Model 4670 H2S in Rich Amine

Model 4670The Need
Substantial energy savings can be made in amine regeneration by controlling the amine circulation rate to ensure optimum H2S loading. When H2S loading is less than optimal, tremendous amounts of energy are wasted as the regeneration/stripping re-boiler must heat more amine than necessary. Measurement of the H2S concentration in the rich amine provides a feedback signal to control the amine circulation rate, thereby helping to ensuring optimum absorber operation.

Direct Measurement
The simplest systems are the most reliable. That’s why direct UV absorption measurement is used without complicated dilution or reagent systems. We even operate the analyzer at line pressure to minimize the number of sample system components. Our experience shows that all amine streams are "dirty" with high particulate loads, corrosion products, and inhibitors. The system uses a filtration system field proven to give reliable operation in excess of one year. Uniquely, a separately filtered stream of the regenerated "lean" amine is used as a zero fluid to periodically zero the analyzer automatically. In this way, the system is accurate regardless of the type of concentration of amine.

The Analyzer
The Western ResearchTM model 4670 H2S in Rich Amine analyzer is based upon the unique AMETEK split-beam, single cell UV photometer which is highly stable and essentially drift-free. This rugged analyzer has no moving parts and a wide tolerance for varying ambient conditions. The system uses a filtration system field-proven to give reliable operation in excess of one year.

Benefits

Lower plant operating costs

  • Regenerator steam consumption can be reduced by lowering the amine circulation rate to ensure operation at the optimum H2S/amine loading
Lower analyzer maintenance costs through:

  • Proven long term reliability
  • A system designed for unattended operation with self-diagnostics minimizing personnel involvement
Typical Range: 0 to 0.5 mol H2S/mol amine, other ranges available
